Biggest Ever Blokes Lunch Fundraiser - Has Ended
DO Details
The Biggest Ever Blokes’ Lunch (BEBL) started in Shepparton back in 2009 after one bloke, Chris McPherson, found out he had incurable prostate cancer. Chris wanted to persuade other blokes like him—middle aged, and, perhaps not in peak condition—to take responsibility for their health and get tested. Chris died from prostate cancer in 2015, but as he’d hoped, many hundreds of men have now benefited from early detection due to these events.
The lunches are now held in 18 locations around Australia and have raised more than $3.5 million for prostate cancer research and regional prostate cancer nurses. In 2016 alone BEBL lunches raised more than $700,000 with more than 5,500 attendees. It is now the largest community fundraiser for prostate cancer research in Australia.
The Biggest Ever Blokes’ Lunch Melbourne will run its third event. We are aiming to increase our total donation to PCFA from $100,000 in 2016 to $150,000 in 2017. Melbourne Biggest Ever Blokes' Lunch Incorporated (A0095170Z) is run entirely by a volunteer committee, and fundraises exclusively on behalf of Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (ABN 42 073 253 924).
