DO Details

Australia's leading food rescue organisation, OzHarvest will fight food waste at Think.Eat.Save events to be held across the country in July and August 2017.

You are invited to a free and delicious hot lunch created from quality food that would have otherwise ended up as landfill.

This year's Sapphire Coast event will feature Costa Georgiadis from ABC Gardening Australia, and Dan Bakker, permaculturalist and sustainability teacher, and Robyn Rosenfeldt, Editor of PIP Magazine.

The event will held at Eden Primary School, Imlay Street, Eden and start at 10:30 am. First off will be a demonstration on how to create a home vegetable garden, followed at 11:30 am by a delicious lunch. After lunch, Dan, Costa and Robyn will talk about how we can all grow our own food, no matter how large or small our available space, from a balcony to a backyard.

Like our Facebook page for the latest event updates or call 0438 407 364 or email sapphirecoast.info@ozharvest.org for more information about the event.

FAQs

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

Phone Christine Welsh on 0438 407 364, email sapphirecoast.info@ozharvest.org

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No.

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

This is a free event. If you aren't able to come, please give your ticket to someone else, or contact Christine Welsh (see above), as there is usually a wait-list due to limited seating capacity.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Yes, that's ok.

How long does the event go for?

If you would like to learn how to start a veggie patch, we are having a demonstration by Dan at 10:30am. Or you can come at 11:30am for the free lunch, which will be followed by a panel

discussion at around 1:00pm with Costa, Dan and Robyn.

What else will be happening on the day?

We will do a tour around the school vegetable gardens by Dan Bakker and Costa Georgiadis. There will also be stalls selling books, magazines, gardening tools, plants, as well as free wonky fruit being handed out by Woolworths staff. A free, delicious vegetarian meal with dessert will also be served, along with tea and coffee. And wonderful music, plus the opportunity to talk with Costa and other gardening experts.

As this is the major fund-raiser for OzHarvest Sapphire Coast we will be running a raffle, asking for gold-coin donations and selling OzHarvest merchandise. And if you've ever wondered what OzHarvest does, or thought about volunteering with OzHarvest, or donating excess food, this is a great chance to speak with Christine Welsh and her fellow volunteers about OzHarvest.

But most of all it will be a great day out, so bring your friends along. It's child-friendly and accessible to people with mobility issues.
