Caloundra Quilters are pleased to announce the 2017, 17th Biennial Quilt Show on Saturday 29th July (9am – 4pm) and Sunday 30th July (9am - 3pm) at the Caloundra Arts Centre, 5 North Street, Caloundra (behind Caloundra Woolworths). Caloundra is situated on the beautiful Sunshine Coast, just one hour north of Brisbane. Caloundra Quilters are an integral part of the Caloundra Arts Centre Association.

Caloundra Arts Centre Association strongly promotes the opportunity to display members’ work and with over 120 members in the group there will be an impressive display of quilts of all designs and techniques, both traditional and contemporary, large and small. Quilt Show Convenor, Eileen Horsburgh (Quilter, Fibre Artist and Painter) is in charge of the display and promises a spectacular show with the theme of this year’s show being "Circles of Friendship”.

Members are asked to expand their horizons and respond to the challenge of making a small quilt in that theme. These quilts will be on display and visitors are invited to vote for their favourite.

Members will also be conducting quilting demonstrations including "English Piecing" and hand quilting.

First prize in this year’s raffle is a beautiful queen-sized quilt made in the theme “Circles of Friendship”. This has been made by several of our very talented ladies. A wonderful Craft Hamper and Child’s quilt are 2nd and 3rd prizes.

The raffle supports local charity, "STEMM”:-“It takes a village to raise a child”

This old African proverb provides a good basis for measuring the high levels of success of Burnside High School’s STEMM program. The Supporting Teenagers with Education, Mothering and Mentoring program is the first of its kind in Queensland. Development of a unique, stand-alone curriculum enables pregnant girls and young mothers to be supported in achieving their educational goals.

Local merchants with interesting wares will have stalls at the Show and promise many bargains. Members also have a sales table with a variety of high quality handmade goods for purchase.

Delicious and fresh homemade sandwiches, cakes and slices will be available. Free tea and coffee!
