Visiting with the Mater Foundation - Expanding Community Fundraising

CharityDOs recently visited with the Mater Foundation's Glen Harriss, Director of Community Fundraising and Leah Costello from Mater Chicks in Pink. The Mater Foundation, led by Nigel Harris, runs an extensive fundraising program including the Mater Medical Research Institute, Mater Little Miracles, Chicks in Pink and the Adult Hospital Ladies Auxillary. Many fundraising events are run by Mater Foundation staff, with a growing number of community fundraising events.

Upcoming fundraisers include the Lunch for the Lads at the Tattersals Club in Brisbane on July 19, and the well known and attended Olivia's Lunch on August 30 - this year at the Victoria Park Golf Resort. August 10 will see the Mater Red, White and Sparkling Dinner for the Mater Medical Research Institute at the Hillstone Golf Links - St Lucia.

August will also see the Mater's community fundraising include the Best Ever Brunch Fundraising Campaign where supporters host "Breast Ever Brunches" to raise funds to help Mater Chicks in Pink support women with breast cancer.

Community fundraising is emerging across the Australian philanthropy and charity world as the growing element of the fundraising events scene from fun runs, brunches and movie nights to zombie walks and whilte collars boxing matches.
