June 2 - Sacred Heart Mission Light Up A Life Lunch - St Kilda Melbourne

Picture yourself in the iconic, stunning George Ballroom, in a room full of flowers, candles and love. Imagine a table of you and your closest friends, colleagues or clients, having lunch together, talking, laughing, enjoying each other's company, with fine wine, and some Damm Fine Food. Now imagine that whilst you are sitting there, you are also helping women in need at the Sacred Heart Mission Women's House, located only 500 metres away.

Join us on Thursday June 2nd at 12 noon for canapes and a 2 course lunch, including wine. On the day you will have the opportunity to bid on some fabulous silent auction items, as well as make a fully tax-deductible donation which goes straight to the heart of the Women's House. The Women’s House is welcoming, safe and supportive environment for women who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of becoming homeless.  Women come to seek support, a meal, a shower and a place to rest.

Those who access the House are often in crisis or experiencing difficulties due to a range of life experiences, including family violence, poverty, sexual violence, physical and mental illness, problematic drug and alcohol use.  The cost of running the Women’s House is $650,000 per year.  This covers staffing, food, activities expenses, vehicles, emergency relief and the physical cost of running the house.   Of this amount, $280,000 is provided by the Victorian state government and City of Port Phillip, and the remaining $370,000 is generated through Sacred Heart Mission Opportunity Shops and through fundraising.   Without fundraising we simply could not keep our doors open. We have 7200 visits per year by women to the house. Each visit is important. Each visit can change a life. We simply cannot afford to close the doors.

Come along to our event and help keep our doors open.  A donation to the women’s house of $50 will fund one woman’s visit and $100 will provide meals for a month for one woman. Please consider donating these or any amount as well as coming along.
