Countdown to 30th Anniversary Murray to Moyne Cycle Relay on October 16

Entries for the 30th anniversary of Woody’s Murray to Moyne Cycle Relay will open on October 16.

Cyclists from across Victoria and further afield are beginning preparations for the annual event on the weekend of April 2 and 3, 2016.

The 2015 ride attracted more than 1200 participants who collectively raised $1,014,000 for health and medical services across the State.

Event coordinator Maggie Leutton said the 520-kilometre ride was one of the first major cycle events to be established in Australia.

“It’s now something of an institution and we’re particularly excited to be marking our 30th anniversary in 2016,” Maggie said.

Entrants can choose from one of three cycling routes – one leaving from Mildura and the other two from Swan Hill and Echuca – all converging on coastal Port Fairy.

“We’re really keen for people to gather their mates together for this great team event,” Maggie said.

“There are always plenty of fun and laughs along the way!”

Online registrations open Friday 16 October, with earlybird registrations available until Saturday 19 December.

Secondary school students are welcome either in school teams or joining other teams at a reduced registration.

Maggie said the Murray to Moyne management crew would be available to meet cyclists at the base of the red stairs on Southbank 7am to 10am on Wednesday 27 October as the Melbourne launch of this 30th Anniversary Ride.
