Aug 16 Hope for the Jogini Girls Evening - Rivett ACT

For over 2,000 years, young girls have been dedicated to the goddess Yellamma as part of the Jogini practice in parts of India. Girls are ‘married’ to the deity without consent. A Joginis’ duty is to provide sexual favours to men of the village. The Jogini system is ritualised, systemic, sexual abuse.

We work in over 200 villages through the statesof Tellangana and Andra Pradesh, highlighting the illegality of dedications and providing health care and economic development. Rescued Jogini women work locally with anti-tra cking workers and are committed to freeing little girls from the bondage of the Jogini system.

Light refreshments will be served. There is no charge for the evening. An opportunity to donate to the ground-breaking work with the Jogini girls will be presented on the night.Join us as Dr Joseph D’Souza – International

Director of Dalit Freedom N etwork – shares stories of the plight of the Jogini girls and nd out how you can be a part of ending this chapter of modern slavery.
