After 10 successful years the Sydney Invitational is moving to Queensland.
“The Meriton” will be held on the Gold Coast in August this year.
Everything about the event will be similar to previous years except for the location, venues, dates and name.
Again played over 54-holes, the Meriton Invitational will be played the week prior to the Queensland Open,
with players competing and enjoying the Gold Coast’s premier golf courses such as
The Glades, Lakelands, Sanctuary Cove and Arundel Hills
Meriton will be offering everybody a fantastic accommodation deal at their Broadbeach and Southport properties.
Players and guests will have the choice of hundreds of fantastic restaurants, Jupiter’s Casino, Pacific Fair
and the surf only a 5-minutes walk away.
The event will continue its strong charity theme, with the Gala Charity Dinner held at the Marriott Hotel
at the conclusion of the event, and all money raised will be donated to the new Gold Coast Hospital.
2014 will again see some of the best and brightest male and female professional golfers compete side-by-side some of Australia’s leading Corporate and Sporting identities. Along similar lines as the famous AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-am, Bob Hope Desert Classic, the Las Vegas Invitational and Dunhill Links Championships, the Meriton Gold Coast Invitational will be a 54-hole, 4-person teams event.
Each team will comprise of a PGA or ALPG Professional and three amateurs. The scoring system will be a 4 persons team event with the best two nett and gross scores counting on each hole. Prizemoney for the 2014 event will be $125,000 and the 240 players will compete at four of the Gold Coasts best courses - The Glades, Lakelands, Sanctuary Cove and Arundel Hills golf courses.
Amateurs will compete for $25,000 worth of prizes and trophies on offer over the 3 days, including daily prizes, as well as the 54-hole winners trophy and prizes for the nett (main event) and scratch. An individual event will be held in conjunction for professionals and amateurs on each clay and overall.
