Inclusive Communities Festival - Townsville - Has Ended

The Inclusive Communities Festival has been organised by a number of disability support agencies across Townsville and will be held this year on Friday 30th August 2013.  The festival will be part of a number of activities held in conjunction with Queensland Government’s - Disability Action Week.

The aim of the festival is to promote positive attitudes towards people of all abilities and encourage their inclusion within the community, therefore making our community a better place for everyone.  In accordance with the festival aim all community members are welcome to attend.

A program of festival events will be organised at a later date. Last year’s performances included the Full Moon Drumming Circle, Happy Feat dance troupe and a local band “Two Steps From Home”.  These acts were supported by hands on activities, art displays and market stalls throughout the festival site. Activities also included wheelchair basketball, hula hooping, yoga, wheelchair bocce as well as the Salvation Army - Oasis Youth Connection+ bus.

Festival ambassadors will again be sought from our local community and again will be people who live life to the fullest and embrace an inclusive community for Townsville!
