Celebrate end of exams in style! Join us on Friday June 30 for a fancy lunch on a budget, and hear from an economist, leading NGOs and a local social enterprise on taking action to change the world-one local step at a time! For lunch, we will Dine Below the Line, with food served at $2 (included in the $5 ticket donation) a head.

Donations from your meal event go to initiatives of youth-led anti-poverty NGO Oaktree, who are running the Dine Below the Line campaign. These initiatives include education projects to help break the cycle of poverty in Cambodia and Timor-Leste. Ingredients for this meal will be supplied by the Harvest Hub, a social enterprise that supplied local, fresh produce to Sydney communities including MQ Uni. Speakers (there will be time for Q&A): Prashan Karuratne. Prashan is an economics lecturer at MQ Uni who will provide an economic perspective on sustainable social enterprises. Jayne, co-founder of Harvest Hub. Jayne will speak on the Harvest Hub as a social enterprise, why $2 a serve, food sovereignty and how we can change the way we eat. Oaktree (speaker TBA). Oaktree is an Australian NGO that aims to empower young people to eradicate global poverty. Oaktree runs popular awareness and fundraising campaigns Live Below the Line and Dine Below the Line, among other initiatives including tackling poverty through political action. AIESEC (speaker TBA). AIESEC is an international youth-run NGO that empowers young people to become future leaders for ‘peace and fulfilment of humankind’s potential’ (from AIESEC’s motto).
